The Breakfast House in Sarasota - New Breakfast place!

Sunday morning I hear a text coming over, but I was too cold and tired. I let it go!. Then finally some 45 minutes later I woke up and see the text, it was Frilly Goose and Gator Goose trying to get to have breakfast at this new place call The Breakfast House on Fruitville and Links (past Links - going west on Fruitville) and it is a cute yellow house on the right hand side of the road. It has white picket fence :)

I call my roommate and we run to get brunch - we arrive and OMG, this place is full. Nothing wrong with this, as we are in season, although it did feel like we were dining with our grandparents. However, they are the perfect market on a Sunday morning - right after church.

First we need to find a parking place - I was tweeting about the place and when we got to the porch, there was a line. The owner receives us and tell us that there will be around 5-10 minutes to wait. In the mean time, I'm reading my NYTimes on the iphone.

10 minutes pass and we get in. The place is so cute and charming and warm. It does feel that you've entered someone's living room. It is a nice feeling. The place was full and you can right away see that they didn't have enough staff.

We got coffee right away - American coffee and it was GOOD. (it passed the test)
They just opened 4 weeks ago and it looks that they got mention in the paper and that is the reason why they were so busy.

But I do get it, there are not that many different breakfast places in this town and to have a new one is good.

We order our food. I got Eggs in the Basket (which I have no idea what it is) and my roomy got pancakes with bananas and nuts. Finally, after a long wait (again, small staff and small kitchen) the food arrived.

I was amazed at how the eggs were - they were on a basket, actually the bread had a hole in the middle and the egg was cooked inside to perfection. I was really amazed at how they did this.

Over all, the place was good, services was good (slow but hey, it is Sunday, what's the rush) and prices are very good. For sure, I will be coming to get more food.
Oh, and the pancakes were soft, fluffy and delicious. Yummmm!

Come on over and enjoy.

PS: we heard that they will have outside tables with a nice garden and birds. That I got see, when the warm weather shows up again in Florida.

  1. Thanks for posting a breakfast place. We go out to breakfast every Sunday. This week we went where we could bring our dog.

I love the flowers on the plates. The food looks good!

  3. The Breakfast House is really good. The benedicts are excellent, and the portions aren't overly large.

  4. We stumbled upon this place after driving past it several times during our week long vacation. I immediately went to the internet to read reviews as I do most often. I found the reviews complimentary so we decided to try it. Boy were we surpised! This place has the best pancakes and breakfast potatoes you wil put in your mouth. We ordered a breakfast sandwich on a biscuit with the island pancake they are known for (pineapple, macadamia nuts and coconut). It was all SOOOOO good. I know the combination does not sound good but it was to die for. My friend got the scambled eggs with sour dough toast and a plain pancake. She also agreed this was the best pancake and potatoes she has ever had. The coffee was alitle strong but excellent. The little yellow, older house this restaurant is in reminds me of al tea room my mom use to take me to when I was young. I love the silver tea pot they serve the coffee in, the white porcelain looking creamers and the over all feel of this restaurant was unique and adorable. The staff was friendly and accomodating. We will be back to this place again and again. Run, dont' walk, to this little pience of Heaven for Breakfast!
